Sanya Phoenix International Airport, located in Fenghuang Village, Tianya District, Sanya City, Hainan Province, China, is approximately 11 kilometers east of the center of Sanya. It is a 4E-level civil transport international airport and a domestic trunk airport in China.

Sanya Phoenix International Airport officially opened for navigation on July 1, 1994, and was named Sanya Phoenix International Airport. The second phase of expansion was completed on November 10, 2006, and the third phase of expansion and renovation was completed on September 20, 2018.

According to the information from the Sanya Municipal People's Government and the airport's official website in September 2019, Sanya Phoenix International Airport has two terminals, T1 (for domestic flights) and T2 (for international and Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan flights), with a total area of 105,000 square meters. It has one runway with a length of 3,400 meters and a parking apron of 61,600 square meters, capable of handling an annual passenger throughput of 20 to 25 million. By April 2019, it had opened 104 domestic and international routes, connecting 93 cities.

In 2020, due to the impact of the global epidemic, the passenger throughput of Sanya Phoenix International Airport decreased to 15.4128 million, a year-on-year decrease of 23.6%; the cargo and mail throughput was 79,900 tons, a yearonyear decrease of 19.9%; and the number of takeoffs and landings was 108,100, a year-on-year decrease of 13.3%. It ranked 18th, 33rd, and 25th in China respectively in these categories.
